On Friday 25th September, Macmillan hosted The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and once again, The Kimberley Hotel got involved!
This year we held ours from 12-4pm, so it was more of a coffee afternoon really, but we still had cakes available for our guests to enjoy, particularly the ones who’d been out on a day trip and had missed all the afternoon action, later that evening.
The cakes all looked divine and superbly homemade by one of the Director’s wives.
We’d even been kindly donated some yummy scones by Dean’s Garden Centre in York which went down a storm with staff and guests alike, so thank you very much to Dean’s for their kind donation to the day, many a scone was enjoyed by all!
We tempted lots of guests who were checking in, to come down for a nibble and a natter too, thanks to our plate of treats up on Reception!
Lots of delights were also enjoyed by many a staff member who were able to come down for a quick break and giggle!
At 4pm, we amalgamated what was left onto a smaller table and covered and kept to one side for the guests who had been out and missed the coffee afternoon and we continued raising pennies for charity well into Friday evening!
At a final count we raised £81.53 which is nearly three times as much as last year! We were very pleased with that, considering so many people and companies were holding their coffee mornings/afternoons on the same day!
Next year we may host it on the Saturday and endeavor to double the amount we raised this year!
Thank you to everyone who came along and for your kind donations to Macmillan, a charity and cause close to so many of our hearts. See you all next year!
