We were lucky enough to have the chance to visit the Autumn Flower Show once again this year on the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate.
This is the third time in a row we’ve visited the show and it didn’t disappoint!
On arriving at the show this year, we discovered that the entrance had moved, as renovations were underway on the Events Centre.
This had not been previously mentioned and much to our dismay, there was a bit of a walk before we even got into the show.
With the refurbishment work happening on the Events Centre, this meant things had moved places from where we had previously come to know them being at other flower shows we had visited here.
Once we’d gotten our bearings though, we were off!
We were blessed with lovely weather and glorious sunshine on this mid September Saturday afternoon and nice weather is always a bonus for any day out!
The first things we came across were art and sculpture pieces. These pieces were on either side of the pathway leading up to the halls and main section of the show.
Also in this area was “Inspiration Street” – A row of inspiring pieces in the garden, as you will see from our photos.
On taking in the lovely garden displays, we continued up the pathway and headed up through the first lot of stalls, which included plants, flowers, garden ornaments and outdoor clothing to name but a few!
After a short browse we decided it was time for lunch, so went off in search of the food tents.
After a nice lunch and a well earned rest for the feet, we continued on our way around the show.
We decided to next take in the exhibition halls where lots of plants, flowers, trees and of course the giant vegetables were on display!
There were some stunning displays, which I’m sure you will agree when you take a look at our photos from the day!
Gardeners and growers had come from far and wide around the country and world to exhibit they’re produce at the show this year.
One of our favourite flower displays this year, were all the way from Holland!
The giant vegetable competition did not disappoint and they seemed even more ginormous than last year! Such a spectacle and as you can imagine, we captured lots of images for you all to see and enjoy!
After having a good look around the flower and veg exhibitions, we moved onto the craft and gift stall halls.
These shows are ideal for finding quirky and unique gifts for birthdays or Christmas. I often get many a gift from here in preparation for Christmas. There really are some truly amazing finds at shows like these!
The September sun was slowly going down and the show was soon to draw to a close, so we made the most of our final bit of time there and saw as much as we could.
There was some beautiful garden furniture to look at still and lots of stunning sculptures for sale as we meandered our way through the final stalls at the Flower Show.
Just before leaving we finally found our favourite stall of all, where they sell hand crafted goodies for your home and garden. We always purchase something from them, love their stuff! This is the stall where the hand carved tree men as I call them are from!
It was soon time to depart from the show, but a lovely, sunny, fun-filled day had been had and although we were leaving with aching feet and tired bodies, we’d made some great purchases and seen lots of lovely things and ultimately had a great day out!
We would recommend the Spring or Autumn Flower Show to anyone visiting or even living in Harrogate that may have not yet visited the show, as as you have read, it’s a lovely day out for all ages!
