With just days to go, the excitement is well and truly building here in Harrogate, as we get ready to welcome the UCI Road World Cycling Championships to North Yorkshire from 21 to 29 September and showcase our beautiful county to the world!

In just under two week’s time, the world’s best cyclists will descend on Yorkshire for the UCI Road World Championships, the pinnacle event in the international road cycling calendar.
The Championships will include a range of men’s and women’s races, across age groups from junior to elite, starting in different towns and cities throughout Yorkshire and each finishing in the main competition town of Harrogate.

The last time the UCI Road World Championships were hosted in Britain, was 1982 and our glorious county of Yorkshire is aiming to deliver the most inclusive, innovative and inspiring Road World Championships in the history of the UCI!

Founded in 1900, in Paris (France), the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is the worldwide governing body for cycling.
It develops and oversees cycling in all its forms, for all people as a competitive sport, as a healthy recreational activity, as a means of transport, and also just for fun.

Day one of the Championships will commence with a ground-breaking para-cycling event, which will run alongside the Championships and will also act as a qualifier for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
The showcase will feature every Paralympic road racing discipline and take place in front of one of the largest crowds ever assembled for an elite para-cycling event.

There will be lots to enjoy for spectators throughout the Championships, including the fantastic Fan Zone!

Harrogate Fan Zone is the perfect place to immerse yourself in the racing and soak up the atmosphere.

With free entry for the full duration of the Championships, all the racing will be shown on big screens throughout the week and every medal presentation on the main stage here.
There is also a full programme of stage performances, roving and pop up performances and activities throughout the nine days to enjoy.

On top of this, the Fan Zone will feature the very best quality curated food and drink options, interactive sponsor activities, traders village and official merchandise superstore.

If all this wasn’t enough come and join the fun on Saturday 21st for the Opening Ceremony following the Para-cycling races.
